While we always say your personalized videos shouldn't be scripted because you want them to feel natural and off-the-cuff - sometimes you just need a little extra help. With Covideo's teleprompter, you can easily create and read your own scripts while recording videos, so you can get it just right.

This means you don't have to worry about memorizing what you want to say, eliminating frustrations, and cutting down the time required to get your perfect take. Let's take a look to see how Covideo's teleprompter works:

How to Record with the Teleprompter

Step 1: To start, click record at the top of the Covideo web app, then select "Cam Only."

Step 2: Above the recorder, click the “Turn On Teleprompter” button.

Step 3: Next, you can choose to select an existing script from your Covideo library by clicking the dropdown. All of your saved teleprompter scripts will appear here. You can also copy and paste a script, or type a new script directly into the text box.

Step 4: Once you've inputted your teleprompter text, click "Save Script." Give your script a title, and click "Save." You will need to save your script before you're able to turn on the teleprompter.

How to Change the Appearance of the Teleprompter

Step 1: Switching over to the Appearance tab allows you to make specifications to the teleprompter.

  • Teleprompter speed: Choose your teleprompter's pace - you can pick between 160 words/min, 200 words/min, or 240 words/min.

  • Position: Choose whether you want your teleprompter to be positioned at the top or bottom of your recorder. Having the teleprompter at the top is more similar to making eye contact, compared to at the bottom.

  • Text size: Choose how small or large you want your teleprompter text to appear.

Step 2: After your script has been added and your appearance selections have been made, click the "Turn On" button to turn on the teleprompter.

Note: If the "Turn On" button is faded orange, and non-clickable, this means your script hasn't been saved. To save your script, go to the "Script" tab, and click "Save Script." Then you will have the option to turn on the teleprompter.

How to Edit Teleprompter Settings and Text

Step 1: Once the teleprompter is turned on, you will see the option to edit the teleprompter.

Step 2: From here, you can make edits to the script, or flip over to the Appearance tab to make changes to the text speed, size, or position. Once your edits have been made, click "Save Script" again.

How to Turn Off the Teleprompter

To turn off the teleprompter, click the power button in the top right corner above the recorder. The teleprompter will be removed from your recording screen.

How to Access, Add, and Edit Scripts in Your Covideo Library

You can also add scripts to your Covideo library ahead of time so they're ready to go when it's time to record.

Step 1: To create new scripts, access your library of scripts, and edit existing scripts, click on your name/profile icon in the back office. Then, select "Teleprompter."

Step 2: Here you will see a list of all your scripts. You have the option to preview, edit, or delete an existing script. Or, you can create a new script.

Creating a New Script in the Back Office

Step 1: In the teleprompter settings in the back office, click "Create New."

Step 2: Then, type a new script or copy and paste a script into the text box.

Step 3: Give your new script a title by clicking the pencil icon in the top left.

Step 4: To preview your script, click "preview." A record window will open. You will adjust the teleprompter's appearance when you go to record in real time.

Step 5: When ready, save your new script. Now you can access this script from your teleprompter library or you will be able to select this script from the drop-down when you go to record your video.

Editing, Previewing, and Deleting Existing Scripts in the Back Office

Step 1: In the teleprompter back office, you will see a list of all your existing scripts. For each script, you have the option to edit, preview, or delete the script.

Step 2: Find a script, and click "Preview" to see what the teleprompter will look like. This will open the web recorder and you can see the teleprompter going.

Step 3: Click the pencil icon to edit an existing script. Make any desired changes, preview your script if you wish, then click "Save."

Step 4: To remove a script from your library, click the trash icon.

Note: The appearance (text size, speed, and position) can only be changed when you open the recorder and turn on the teleprompter to record your video. You will not be able to edit the appearance of a script in the back office.
