Best practice suggests no longer than 30-60 seconds.

Your goal is to catch their attention, provide the information, and wrap up the pitch.

When using The Covideo app or the Covideo website's web-based recorder, the max limit of recording time for a video is 10 minutes.

If a video longer than 10 minutes is needed, you may record from any other video recording device and upload that video file to your account. Any length video can be uploaded as long as the file size is under 2GB.

Tips for Recording a Video Message

It’s important to look at the camera during your video too. We know it’s tempting to look at yourself while recording. But looking at your screen during the video will look like you are avoiding eye contact. Try pretending that the person you are talking to is actually there and the camera is their face.

What to say

Think about what you are going to say in your video beforehand, and be prepared. Try jotting down some notes beforehand to help commit it to memory. Of course, try to avoid reading from a script!

How to begin your video

Start with the basics. Begin your video by saying… “Hello, Bonjour, Guten tag, good day mate,” and say your viewer’s name. It sounds simple, but people like being acknowledged. Adding this bit of familiarity to your message will lead to higher engagement.

How to act on camera

Body language and tone of voice both play massive roles in conversations but are completely absent in plain-text. This is an advantage that using video gives you. Be yourself, use your hands and face when talking, show them that they are talking to a human, not some robot. Smiling is a great way to form a connection too.

How to end the video

It’s always a good idea to thank your viewer for taking the time to watch your video, by the way. Make sure to give them a call-to-action and any next steps you might take together to keep them engaged.

Just remember, there is no such thing as the perfect video. No one expects you to be the video master right away. Take it step-by-step. And remember, practice makes perfect!
